Thankful for Red Velvet – Marketing with Surprises

Thankful for Red Velvet – Marketing with Surprises
October 29, 2015 Joy Whittemore

This Thanksgiving holiday season is like no other for Add In Marketing in Ventura County, and while I contemplate and give thanks for all the wonderful clients I have been able to work with this year, I reflect upon how marketing is indeed like a delicious red velvet cookie with cheesecake filling. Look at the end of our blog for the perfect red velvet cheesecake cookie recipe – yum!
If you all have kept up with our boutique marketing company this last year, you will know that aside from marketing, I thoroughly enjoy a fabulous recipe. A good recipe is like a well planned marketing approach, and, if made correctly can taste just as good.
How is it that something that tastes like a melting pillow of cheesy chocolaty delight is like a well planned marketing plan? Well, here we go:
Start with the Perfect Base Recipe:
A cookie is defined by the dough. If you do not have a solid foundation or brand structure for growth, you should not look to expanding your brand. Your company must exude quality with every angle, from the logo and branding guide to your internal marketing communications. Each brand representative is a brand ambassador and is like the chocolate chips that adorn the cookie when presented.
Add a Surprise with Every Bite:
Dazzle your customers beyond their first bite. The first sales call is the start to the relationship. The sales package and presentation is like taking the first bite of your cookie and realizing there is a cream cheese frosting filling that went well beyond your expectations. Ensure an above and beyond experience with relative current marketing materials that will make you want more.

One Size Does Not Fit All:
This year, I am truly thankful for all the different business segments and industries we have been able to work with on evolving marketing and branding initiatives. Truly, while most enjoy a red velvet cheesecake marketing approach, others are really apple crumble pie customers. Don’t try to squeeze everyone in the same box or marketing tactic (i.e. social media may be fine for some, but not for everyone). Find the right communication approach for your customers and make it happen.
If you could get 10x’s the revenue back from buying ingredients for a simple red velvet cookie mix, wouldn’t you invest in taking the first step? This is what we do for our customers, take the smallest amount of investment and turn it into a plate of delicious profitability that attracts customer and skyrockets revenue, building brands to their fullest potential.
